Privacy policy
This app holds a child's photographs, voice recordings and health notes. That is about as sensitive as personal data gets, so this page says plainly what is stored, where it lives, and every case in which it leaves that storage.

Who is responsible
Baby Audio Diary is run by Alexander Stebner as a private, invite-only application. There is no public sign-up: an account can only be created with an invitation code, and an account without a family can see nothing at all.

What is stored
Your account
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive and store a user identifier, your email address and the display name from that provider. No password is ever created or held by this app.
What you write into the diary
- Diary text, in every language it has been translated into
- Photographs and videos you attach, and the daily photo series
- Voice recordings made in the app
- Milestone tags, and the name and colour you chose for yourself
Your child's details
- Name and date of birth
- Sex — used only to select the correct WHO growth percentile curves, and optional
- Growth measurements: weight, height, head circumference, clothing and shoe sizes
- Health notes: temperatures, medication names, doses and times, symptoms, appointments
- Emergency contacts you enter, such as a paediatrician or hospital
Place
If a photograph carries location metadata, the app converts those coordinates into a place name on your device, using the operating system's own geocoder. Only the city, region and country are stored. The coordinates themselves are never stored and never sent to us.
Technical data
- A push notification token per device, so a partner's new entry can reach you
- Crash diagnostics through Firebase Crashlytics — stack traces, device model and OS version. This contains no diary content.
- A monthly count of transcriptions, translations and video renders per family, used only to cap runaway costs
Where it is stored
All diary data is held in Google Firebase, in Europe: the database in the European multi-region,
and file storage and server functions in Belgium (europe-west1).
When data leaves that storage
This is the part worth reading closely. Three services outside Firebase ever receive anything, and each receives only what it needs to do one job.

Photographs and videos are never sent to any artificial-intelligence service. They are uploaded to your family's storage and stay there. Nothing analyses them, tags them or reads them.
These processors are in the United States, so using the transcription and translation features involves a transfer outside the European Economic Area. Their own terms govern what they do with what they receive: OpenAI and Google.
Who else can see your diary
Only the members of your family — at most four accounts, each admitted with a single-use invitation code. Everyone in a family sees the same diary, photographs and child details; that is the point of it. Nobody outside the family has access, there is no public or shared view, and the data is not indexed or discoverable anywhere.
What is not done
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No profiling and no automated decisions about you
- Nothing is ever sold or shared with third parties beyond the processors named above
How long it is kept
Diary content is kept until you delete it. Deleting an entry removes its text, photographs and recording for everyone in the family.
Deleting your account removes the account itself, your settings and your notification tokens. If you are the last member of your family, deleting your account also deletes the whole diary — every entry, photograph, health note and appointment — because nothing would be able to reach it afterwards.
An account that signs in but never joins a family is deleted automatically after 30 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, and a portable copy. Two of those are built into the app rather than needing a request:
- A copy of everything — Settings, "Export my data", which produces a single file containing every entry, health note, appointment and setting
- Deletion — Settings, "Delete my account"
- Correction — any entry can be edited in the app at any time
For anything else, or to complain, write to the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
The diary is about a child but is not used by one. The account holders are the parents, who decide what is written and who may read it, and who can delete any of it at any time.
Changes
If what the app does with data changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated.
